The springs (or wells) that originate on the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace gave its name to the lovely city of Wells. The city’s medieval alleyways are home to ancient, unaltered structures, and the High Street’s water supply, which Bishop Bekynton gave to the town in 1451, still gurgles down its sides.
